The Sportage Hybrid SUV nets well-deserved praise following a week-long test drive. Joining the Kia line-up in the 2023 model year, the hybrid SUV showcases a peppy powertrain that delivers impressive fuel economy. Sportage Hybrid provides class-leading rear legroom (more than 41 inches), and best-in-class rear cargo behind the second row (39.5 cubic feet). The hybrid SUV’s debut amplifies the 5th-generation iteration of the Sportage, Kia’s longest running nameplate. In a first for Sportage, the technology feature list includes an available 360-degree surround-view monitor with 3D view.

Sportage Hybrid features a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (177 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 195 torque between 1500-4500 rpm), a 44 kW electric motor, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Total output is 227 horsepower and 258 torque. Sportage Hybrid is offered in three trims: LX, EX, and SX-Prestige. When properly equipped, Sportage Hybrid has a 2,000-pound towing capacity. Tested 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX-Prestige with all wheel drive collected estimated MPG of 38 city/38 highway. The tested 108.5-inch wheelbase SUV carries a base MSRP of $36,190.
